Intense waves make this beach popular with surfer and boogie boarder types (you’ll have to bring your own board, though, since there are no rentals available), and, with the absence of vendors, it’s a little more subdued than Playa Boca Chica.
The sole restaurant in sight is the Caribbean Sun Beach Bar & Grill (tel: 809.526.2233), a two-story fresh fish and seafood restaurant with a large terrace for beachside dining.
A kickboxing arena in the chill-out area gives off a romper room vibe for adults, while a DJ spins international lounge music from a loft looking down on patrons in big comfy bamboo chairs.
A plastic table with four chairs in the sand runs RD$100 (about US$3.50), RD$150 with an umbrella.
