Located in always tranquil Las Galeras, this sweeping curve of beach bends around gentle blue waters.
Visitors can either pass a quiet day on a towel spread out on the sand or enjoy the facilities at Casa Marina Bay Resort (809.571.3535), for a fee if you’re not registered there.
Las Galeras is also a good launching point for visiting the area’s other gorgeous but remote beaches. Small fishing boats ferry passengers to nearby but otherwise unreachable Playa Madama, bordered by extraordinary rock formations and caves housing Taino art; reef-protected Playa Frontón on the northeast tip of the peninsula; green and shady Playa Colorado; and the prize of the peninsula, nearly deserted Playa Rincón, recognized by Conde Nast Traveler as the best beach on the peninsula.
