Lovely Playa Frontón certainly owes its picturesque undisturbed setting to a not so easy to reach location. Situated way off the beaten path at the tip of Cape Samaná, to get here you’ll have to take a boat from the center of Las Galeras, about a fifteen minute ride in calm waters, or trek for two hours through thick tropical jungle. From either approach the sound of nothing but the ebb and flow of the waves will make you feel like a conquistador discovering a new land. There is a reef-protected lagoon for snorkeling, but even strong swimmers should be careful here due to strong undercurrents. Adventure tour operators use the 300-foot rock face rising from behind the palm-lined beach for rock climbing expeditions.
