This Spanish-Irish pub on Cabarete’s famous beachfront is generally filled with happy tourists throwing back ice-cold Presidente beers and noshing on savory pub grub.

The place exudes a quintessential Caribbean expat bar vibe: somewhat worn décor and the smell of days-old ale, but the guy sitting on the stool next to you wearing scruffy shorts is a billionaire with a 110-foot luxury yacht docked out back.

The only hiccup in this scenario is that many expats in the area tend not to come here, deeming it too expensive; particularly the exorbitantly overpriced beer.

Putting local politics aside, if you don’t mind paying almost twice the price for a cold one to go with those wings, then you’ll have lots of fun chez Jose. Large-screen TV is available for sports fans.
