Las Terrenas

Region Map: Samana Peninsula

Hipster Las Terrenas, a resort enclave serving mostly young hip
Europeans, has a Mediterranean-influenced atmosphere with a lively bar and restaurant scene.

The mile-long beach runs the length
of Las Terrenas and, due to an exuberant nightlife, is mostly deserted
during the day except for a few resort staff members entertaining
guests on the sands.

Even quieter options are nearby.  Punta Popy and
Playa Las Ballenas, located on opposite ends of the strip, see a
little less traffic than the main beach, while you may have nearly
deserted Playa Bonita (which lies around the bend to the west) all to
yourself.

The area includes tropical rainforest and must be accessed by one of two mountain roads.
