Restaurant Ruby is a graceful palapa hut run by an effervescent proprietor and a few family members who pick up the slack as the dinner crowd expands.

In keeping with the Las Galeras modus operandai, the casual setting is one of modest furnishings apparently fashioned from driftwood, soft lighting and just the right tone of music to lend an elegant atmosphere. Another nice touch is the piña coladas presented in pineapple husks.

Ruby herself is an exceptional cook, turning out made-to-order specialties like mussels in garlic and wine with the power to produce a certain Pavlovian effect as its aroma wafts through the air.  The fish is also good, but then so are all the offerings on the menu.

Daytrips to a second location on nearby Playa Rincón offer visitors huge grilled lobster lunches, live music, and plenty of potent rum punch.
